I need to get back to actually doing something. I want to plan a strategy game.
My ideas are to have it:
1. server-client based (like QuakeWorld) For the sake of having a nice rendering client (probably opengl), and a fast one.
2. Cross-platform. I'm sick of everything being just for windows, but won't be like Ardour and be anti-windows. Replace Directx with OpenGL, and usual (to most people) windows programming with gtk 2.0.
3. Open-source. I would definitely put it on sourceforge after I get through some sort of planning stage. The more practiced programmers that help me, the more I'll learn, and the better the game will be.
So what do you think?
